Checklist: After you have the keys
You need to do lots of things when you move home. Here are some of the most important.
Contact your gas, water and electricity suppliers to set up your account or change your address.
Take meter readings as soon as you move in. These are also taken as part of the tenancy sign up process - you can find the readings on the Lettable Standards document.
Contact your local council to set up or change your Council Tax payments.
Contact your local council to make a claim for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit - if you're eligible.
Find out where your stop taps, fuse box and trip switch are located. Their locations are listed on the Lettable Standard document.
Arrange contents insurance for your personal belongings. Here's what we recommend.
Re-direct your post from your previous address.
Arrange or amend your TV licence.
If you install a phone, please let us know your landline number. Email us at trust@peaksplains.org.
Update your doctor, dentist, bank, employer, school and the DVLA with your new address.
Add your household to the electoral roll.
