Earlier in the year we put out a call to local community groups to find out who needed a helping hand.
We ask our staff to vote for their favourite causes and Cheshire Streetwise CIC was top of this list.
The charity, which is based in a shop on Mill Street Macclesfield, supports those in need with its Furniture Reuse Project, which helps struggling families by rescuing unwanted furniture that would otherwise end up in landfill.
We collect used furniture, renovate it and give it a new lease of life. There are plenty of people who are struggling financially or having to start again in a new home. Wherever we can help – we will.

Our teams fixed the shop’s light and made them safe and painted the walls in the basement. We also cleared out five lorry loads of rubbish from the basement which our partners, Henshaws, generously disposed of at no charge.
Gary Naylor, Peaks & Plains’ Head of Repairs said,
We plan our Give and Gain days so that staff can give back to some of the charities and groups who provide such vital support for the communities in which we operate. We are delighted that Maggie and her team of volunteers now have better working environment in which to upcycle furniture and help even more people.
