Your equality update - how we've been prioritising equality, diversity and inclusion

We've already been running events this Spring to make sure we celebrate and respect our differences, thanks to the work of our EDI Forum. This is their first update of 2024 with events that been taking place to to train staff and support customers.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is hugely important to us. We have a group of staff who meet regularly to make sure that we're challenging our own behaviour, supporting the things that matter most, and making sure our services are inclusive. We call this group our 'EDI Forum'.

This is what 'Equality, Diversity and Inclusion' means to us here at the Trust. These are all our values - and equality is at the centre of them all.

International Women's Day

Our annual International Women's Day event was well attended by staff.
Our annual International Women's Day event was well attended by staff.

We invited Julia Wolfendale from On the Up Consulting Ltd to talk to staff about the International Women's Day theme, 'include and inspire'.

We can't include and inspire others without making sure we are feeling like ourselves too, and Julia reminded us all to take care of ourselves.

Transgender Awareness Training

Christian Owens from Gender Space has joined all our staff - in three separate sessions, to make sure that everyone working for the Trust came along. This means that when we come into your home, you can be sure we've been trained on the right language to use, pronouns, and understanding on what it means to be transgender.

All our repairs teams have worked with Chris at GenderSpace to improve their awareness of what it means to be transgender.

Domestic Abuse Housing Accreditation

We've also starting working towards a Domestic Abuse Housing Accreditation (DAHA). This means that we're taking a stand to ensure they deliver safe and effective responses to domestic abuse.

We'll be working towards the accreditation over the next 12 months.

Dementia awareness training

Last but not least, all staff at the Trust have also registered for training on dementia over the coming months. Keep your eye our on our social media to see what we get up to!
