ASB Awareness Week – Day 3

Understanding the reporting process helps ensure concerns are handled effectively and that the right action can be taken.

How to Report ASB

If you are experiencing anti-social behaviour, it’s important to report it through the appropriate channels.

You can report ASB by:

  • Completing an online form
  • Calling us on 0800 012 1311
  • Emailing the ASB team on asbprevention@peaksplains.org
  • Reporting directly to the police in cases involving criminal activity

If the situation is serious or you feel at immediate risk, you should contact the police by calling 999. For non-emergency incidents, you can call 101.

You can also report ASB to police (non-emergency) online.

What Information should you provide?

Providing clear and detailed information helps us understand the situation and take appropriate action.

When reporting ASB, try to include:

  • Dates and times of incidents
  • What happened, including specific details of the behaviour
  • How it affected you
  • Who was involved, if known
  • Any supporting evidence, such as photos, videos, or diary sheets

The more information you can provide, the easier it is for us to assess the issue and determine whether it meets the threshold for ASB.

It is also important not to assume that someone else has reported the issue if you are affected, please make sure you report it yourself so that we are aware.

What Happens After You Report ASB?

Once a report is received, we will:

  1. Assess the information provided to determine whether the issue meets the criteria for anti-social behaviour
  2. Contact you to discuss your concerns and gather any further details where needed
  3. Consider appropriate action, which may include advice, warnings, mediation, or working with partner agencies such as the police
  4. Keep you informed where appropriate about the progress of your case

Not all reports will result in formal action. We can only take enforcement action where there is clear evidence and the behaviour meets the required thresholds.

Working Together for Better Outcomes

Reporting ASB is an important step in helping to resolve issues and improve communities. However, in some cases, particularly where concerns relate to everyday living, informal resolution between neighbours may also be appropriate.

By reporting concerns responsibly and providing clear information, you help us to:

  • Understand the full picture
  • Take proportionate and fair action
  • Work with partners where needed
  • Support safer, more positive communities

Creating Safer Communities

We are committed to addressing anti-social behaviour where appropriate, but creating safe and respectful communities is a shared responsibility.

By reporting concerns promptly and accurately, you are helping us take the right steps to support you and your neighbours.
