Ending my tenancy Back

If you’re moving home or ending your tenancy you will need to give us four weeks’ notice in writing.

Your notice period will then start on the Monday after we receive the signed and completed form.

If you're ending a tenancy on behalf of a friend or family member who does not have capacity to end their tenancy, you will need to have one of the following.

  • Proof of Power of Attorney
  • Proof of appointeeship
  • The tenants signature

Please give the completed form to our Customer Experience Team by hand or post it to:

Peaks & Plains Housing Trust
Newton Street
SK11 6QJ

If you need a paper copy of the form email with your name and address.

A final visit from us

Following notification that you wish to end your tenancy we will contact you to arrange an End of Tenancy visit at your property.

The end of your tenancy

Your tenancy will end on a Sunday.

Handing in your keys

When your notice period is finished, you will need to hand in all keys and coloured fobs to the property at our offices at Ropewalks by 10.00am on the following Monday.

Please note if we receive the keys and fobs after this time you will be charged the full weeks rent on the property and you may also be charged for the cost to change the locks to the property and for the replacement fobs.

Settling up and moving your things out

When you return your keys to us, we’ll give you a receipt and discuss your rent account with you.

It’s important that you take all your belongings with you when you move out, including emptying the loft, clearing your garden, including all sheds and outhouses, and removing all white goods and kitchen appliances too.

Unfortunately, if you leave items in your home, we’ll have to charge you for removing and disposing of the items.

If you have pre-payment gas and electric meters, please leave the gas card and electric key or card at the property.  Alternatively hand them in when you return the keys and fobs to us at the end of your tenancy.

We will not be held responsible for any items left at the property at the end of the tenancy, and if any items are left at the property, we will dispose of such items and re-charge you accordingly.
