Types of tenancy Back

Depending on the type of tenancy you have you will different rights to other people.  You need to be aware of your rights when making decisions about your tenancy.

Here is an overview of the tenancies that we currently offer.

Assured Tenancy

This is a lifetime tenancy and allows the following:

  • Succession of the tenancy meaning it can be passed to another person when a tenant passes away
  • Assignment of the tenancy to another person during the tenancy
  • No end date to tenancy
  • Can mutual exchange
  • No probationary period

Fixed Term Tenancy (Assured Shorthold)

This has defined end date and allows the following:

  • Succession of the tenancy meaning it can be passed to another person when tenant dies
  • Assignment of the tenancy to another person during the tenancy
  • Fixed end date of tenancy.  At the end of the tenancy  so long as there isn’t any antisocial behaviour and rent arrears the tenancy a new tenancy will be offered
  • Can mutual exchange
  • No probationary period
